| Lone Skov Madsen (° Denmark, 1964) was trained as a
ceramist at Danmarks Designskole in Copenhagen. She later
became co-founder of the Exhibition Space for New Ceramics,
also in Copenhagen. Her works are represented in the main
ceramic museums of Denmark.
After a first successful show in Puls Contemporary Ceramics
in 2002, she is now back for a second time. In 2002, Lone
Skov Madsen showed the Brussels audience what she is best
known for: her platters, circular shapes about half a meter
in diameter. With its simple, neutral form, the platter presents
itself as a canvas on which she models her volcanic structures
with running, drifting glazes. In 2006 she will show some
new platters, next to a series of sculptural works in the
shape of thrown, folded and modelled objects resembling bowls
or vases. They are still full of structure and texture, but
now in a thee-dimensional shape.
In connection to the exhibition at Puls, the book “Le(the)
Plat(ter) 2003-2005” will be published. The book is
a summary of the last years’ work with plates. Some
of the works depicted in the book will also be on show.
