The work of Esther Stasse (1968) seems firmly rooted in the Dutch geometrical tradition. It is based on a few elementary forms: the cylinder, the rectangle and the oval. Moreover, there are no bold colours and no decoration to distract from the basic geometry. The pieces are serene, static and introvert. Stasse’s work is essentially formal; function is not her first goal. Most of her objects can be used as vases, but form is her main interest. Practising mould-casting she manufactures her objects in her own studio, either making unique pieces or multiples.
