Christin Johansson says about her work:
I work with ceramic form rather than function. A distinct
wish for a
specific expression is the driving force of my works.
My objects communicate impressions and observations from my
former
profession as a nurse. They appear clinical and sterile with
strong
references to industrial and functionalistic properties.
The objects challenge mans need to place things that
are not immediately recognisable in known frames of reference.
This need to interpret and understand the world we live in
fascinates me and plays an important role in
my works. By applying a few reference points such as colour
and
surface, I force the audience to mentally place the objects
in intended
environments.
Consequently, all my objects emerge from and describe the
same
universe, which constitutes my work sphere. This universe
provides me with an
inexhaustible source of inspiration and creates a strong relation
between
the objects and makes up my artistic expression.
